CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST

Responsibilities

  • Prepare preliminary and detailed design drawings for civil and municipal infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients.

  • Production of engineering designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and tender documents for projects such as water supply, sanitation, stormwater management plans, roadway design, site grading and drainage systems.

  • Take projects from preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans, and project documentation requirements, using primarily Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed.

  • Coordinate the preparation of documents required for regulatory approvals, prepare construction cost estimates and tender documents/contracts.

  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved.

  • Identify issues, facilitate corrective measures and think independently.

  • Liaise with contractor, clients/owners and affected stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology

  • The preferred candidate will have 5+ years of experience in municipal design and land development.

  • OACETT Registration as an A.Sc.T. or C.E.T. (or other technical accreditation) is an asset.

  • Hands-on experience in functional and detailed design drawings of various civil and municipal infrastructure projects.

  • Advanced proficiency in Civil 3D Software is essential.

  • GIS related experience with ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Desktop Extensions and the ESRI Geodatabase format is an asset.

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), client management and relationship-building skills.

  • Experience with administering construction contracts would be an asset.

  • Ability to work without supervision as well as within a busy and close-knit team environment.
